Mrs. Ruth Donnell Gardner

Mrs. Ruth Donnell Gardner of Hartford passed away Tuesday, September 24, at age 94.

Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 on Friday, September 27, with funeral services to follow at Hartford Baptist Church.  Rev. Chris Kroll and Rev. Bruce Spivey will officiate. The pallbearers will be Charles Gardner, William Dane Parker, Travis Gardner, Chris Miller, David Miller, and Mack Wayne Donnell.  Ruth personally requested as her Honorary Pallbearers Johnny Howell, Archie Fondren, M.L.(Mutt) Brannon, Malvin Laye, and Gary Miller.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hartford Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Gardner was born in Bellwood, AL and moved to Hartford at age 8, where she lived until her death.  She met and married William H. (Bill) Gardner from Atlanta.  They moved back to Hartford where Bill worked with Liberty National Life Insurance Company and Ruth was a homemaker.  She was an excellent cook, Christian mother, and grandmother.

Survivors include her children Carole J. Hicks (Harold) of Hartford, W. Wayne Gardner (Jan) of Dothan, and Kay G. Outlaw (Rodney) of Ozark; her six grandchildren Ashlee C. Hicks of Hartford, Charles Edward Gardner (Ashley) of Ramer, Scarlett G. Hackett (Ray) of Mobile, Travis Hughes Gardner of Tuscaloosa, Shera P. Stinson (Troy) of Greenville, and William Dane (W.D.) Parker of Dothan; a special niece Susan Donnell Brannon of Hartford; and 8 great-grandchildren.
