Mrs. Ruth Olive Dunnavant Laney, a resident of Ariton, died Friday morning, February 8, 2019. She was 101 years old.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 11, 2019, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Charles Goldsmith officiating. Interment will follow in Ariton Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Monday morning from 9:30 A.M. until service time.
Mrs. Laney was born January 6, 1918 in Coffee County, Alabama to the late Joseph Benjamin Dunnavant and Nancy Drucilla Dubose Dunnavant. Ruth was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church Senior Sunday School Class for many years. She loved her garden, flowers, shrubs, fishing, country and gospel music. Ruth held many jobs over the years; caregiver, Beasley Hatchery and Dot Laney Memorial Library all located in Ariton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Laney; four sisters, Essie, Ethel, Ione and Winnie; three brothers, Rufus, Walker and Colie Dunnavant.
Survivors include her daughter Glenda Lynch (John) of Ozark; her son, J. H. Laney (Helen) of Headland; two grandsons, Larry Lynch (Darla) of Bartlett, Illinois, and David Lynch of Hanover Park, Illinois; great grandchildren, Krista, Marisa and J. D. Lynch all of Illinois.
The family would like to thank the Certified Nursing Assistants and other staff members of Ozark Health and Rehabilitation Center for many months of tender loving care.
