Obituary: Mrs. Sandra McAllister Peel
Mrs. Sandra McAllister Peel of Slocomb was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Monday, February 26, 2024. She was 79.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Slocomb City Cemetery with Rev. Brad Price officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Sandra’s memory with your contribution to the First Baptist Church of Slocomb or your favorite charity.
Mrs. Peel was born December 21, 1944 in Geneva County to the late Alton Claude and Ruby Seay McAllister. Sandra was a great woman of faith and member of the First Baptist Church of Slocomb where she faithfully served for many years. She began the Children’s Church Ministry as well as the GROW Outreach Program. In addition, Sandra served as Sunday School Director, Sunday School Teacher, and WMU Director. Countless lives were touched and transformed during her ministry at the church. Her infectious laugh and joyful spirit were sure to brighten even the darkest of days. Sandra loved her Bobby and together they worked side by side at Peel’s Grocery for many years. Though our hearts are saddened by her passing, we are comforted knowing she has received her heavenly reward.
Survivors include her children: Kim Peel Woodham (Terry), Kay Peel Battle (Donald), and Bart Peel (Misty); grandchildren: Garrett Woodham (Bailey), Amy VanHoose (Blaise), Courtney Maertens (Jason), Alyssa Shiver, Julia Peel, Ruby Peel, and Audrey Peel; great grandchildren: Bryant Battle, Tristan Maertens, Kadon Shiver, Asher Maertens, and Jase Maertens; brother, Rev. Dicky McAllister; sister, Shelia Reid; sister-in-law, Dianne Tew; nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Flowers Hospital SICU, especially her nurse, Rachel Smith, for their love and care; and a special thank you to Dr. Frank Crockett for the kindness provided to Sandra and the entire family.
