Mrs. Sarah Frances “Sadie” Hughes Potts, of Newton, passed away Saturday morning, October 15, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from Bethel Baptist Church in Newton with Reverend Larry Roberts, Reverend Ray Layton and Reverend Randy Kuhn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening in the church from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kendall Potts, Kyle Moore, Pete Williams, Greg Caulder, Joey Hughes and Pat Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Dillard and Earl Blocker.
Mrs. Potts was born November 22, 1933 in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Jesse James Hughes and Jewell Vivian Davis Hughes. She met and married her husband in 1957. Mrs. Potts was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Newton for the past 65 years. She loved working in her flower garden and everyone loved her divinity candy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, James Kenneth Potts; one daughter, Sherry Lynn Moore (Ronald); one son, Mark Allen Potts (Tammy) all of Newton; four grandchildren, Kyle Moore of Newton, Brittney Kirkland (Justin) of Newton, Kaitlynn Moore of Dothan, and Kendall Potts (Kacie) of Newton; four great grandchildren, Caymon Moore, Cameron Moore, Kohen Moore and Easton Palmer; sister-in-law; Eloise Sullivan (Joseph) of Level Plains. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her memory to your charity of choice.
