Mrs. Shirley Ann Lancaster McAllister, age 78, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday April 2, 2016 at the SAMC.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday April 5, 2016 at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Steve Skidmore officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.The family will be receiving friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the Glover Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.Mrs. McAllister was born on September 22, 1937 in Qulin, Missouri the daughter of Elmer Chester Lancaster and Bernice Elizabeth Hough Lancaster. She moved to Dothan from Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri in 1959. Mrs. McAllister was retired from Amsouth Bank as a Loan Processor; she worked for several years with the Southeast Chapter of American Federation of the Blind as their secretary and she was a volunteer at the Columbia Baptist Association Ministry Center. Mrs. McAllister was a 1955 graduate of Carthage High School and was a member of the Cloverdale Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles McAllister and a son, Larry Charles McAllister.
Survivors include: 3 daughters, Kathy Reynolds (Wallace), Ashford; Rebecca Hines, Dothan; Diane Goolsby “Sambo” (Greg), Dothan; 1 son, David McAllister (Kathy), Dothan; 8 grandchildren, Chad Reynolds (April), Aaron Hines(Alicia), Robert Hines, Abigail Griswold (Christian), Hannah Goolsby, Nicholas Goolsby, Jordan McAllister, and Kacie McAllister; 1 great-grandson, Bryant Reynolds; 2 sisters, Loreda Brown, Covington, Tn.; Sandy Lancaster, Jackson, Tn.; 1 brother, Rick Lancaster, Walls, Ms.; several nieces & nephews.
Active pallbearers will be: Chad Reynolds, Nicholas Goolsby, Christian Griswold, Russell Goolsby, Max Smith, and Jon Engstrom
Honorary pallbearers will be the Volunteers at the Columbia Baptist Ministry Center.
Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
