ARGUTA COMMUNITY…Mrs. Tamela Jean Moore Courtney, a resident of the Arguta Community, near Ozark, died late Friday evening, June 30, 2023, at her home. She was 67.


Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Tindol officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.  Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


            Mrs. Courtney, daughter of the late James Moore and Freda Burnham Moore, was a native of Madison, Indiana. She attended Madison Consolidated High School and Troy University where she was majoring in accounting. Mrs. Courtney lived in various locations while her husband served in the United States Army. She was a retired helicopter mechanic at Fort Rucker (now Fort Novosel) after twenty years of employment. Mrs. Courtney enjoyed her time with family, cooking for them, and her beloved dogs.


            Surviving relatives include her husband, Donald Courtney (Sergeant First Class, United States Army, Retired); three daughters, Cristy Jean Slenker (Norman), Katrina Thompson (Adam), and Kimberly Hardwick (Dennis); three sisters, Sharon Rich, Kandra Sue Willis, and Judy Blaylock; brother, James Moore; nine grandchildren, James Lum (Sara), Kelsey Jean George (Ben), Michael Lum (Shelby), Austin Courtney, Dedra Lum, Matthew Courtney, Kaden Kilpatrick, Konnor Kilpatrick, and Karson Kilpatrick; ten great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
