Mrs. Theresa Zyla Makowski of Ozark, died peacefully Friday evening, January 26, 2018, at her home following an extended illness. She was 90 years old.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Makowski will be held 10:00 A.M.Tuesday, January 30, 2018, from St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Ozark with Reverend Charles McCabe officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.
Mrs. Makowski was born October 15, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Albert and Josephine Zyla. She and her husband moved to Ozark in 1959. During her life she was an executive secretary for various organizations and taught for the Ozark School System until her retirement. She was an expert seamstress and gardener who appreciated nature. Mrs. Makowski devoted her life to love of family. She was an active member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Ozark, a past member of the St. John’s Women’s Club and the choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Frank Anthony Makowski; her son, Phillip Edward Makowski; three sisters and four brothers.
She leaves behind three daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Wes Walters of Alexandria, Virginia, Marcia and Garry Castelli of Belleville, Illinois, Mary and Marlin Brandon of Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Makowski of Las Vegas, New Mexico; eight grandchildren, Kristin Stockton, Adam Castelli, Rachel Castelli, Andrew Castelli, Nick Makowski, David Makowski, Chris Brandon, and Tyler Brandon; one sister, Rose Hall of Cranston, Rhode Island.
