Valeria McClenny, 92, widow of Fred Dempsey McClenny, Sr., formerly of Columbia, Alabama, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Signature Healthcare of Northwest Florida in Graceville, Florida.

 

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 in the Clearman Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Speaker Marvin Ishler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

 

Born February 5, 1922 in Omatta, Georgia, Valeria was a daughter of the late Ernest Elwood and Vinny Valonna Rutledge Dodson. She was self employed as a Lady Barber nearly all of her adult lifetime and was a Jehovah’s Witness.

 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Henry “Ernie” McClenny.

 

Surviving are a son, Fred Demsey McClenny, Jr., Pinckard, Alabama; a daughter-in-law, Linda McClenny, Ashford, Alabama; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
