Mrs. Velma Louise Vaughn Kennedy, age 82, a resident of Dothan, passed away in the early morning hours on Saturday December 5, 2015 after a short illness.


Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday December 8, 2015 at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Troy West officiating.  Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery with Kendall Glover directing.


The family will be receiving friends from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m. Tuesday prior to services at the funeral home.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, Al. 36302.


Mrs. Kennedy worked as a dental assistant before having children and then assisted her husband in operating their business Kennedy Appliance Service.  She dedicated her life to caring for her beloved disabled son, Max.  She enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, crocheting, playing Bridge or Scrabble, and painting.  Mrs. Kennedy was a talented cook and seamstress who used her skills often to make gifts for her friends and family.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leroy Kennedy, her adored brother and sister-in-law, John and Beatrice Vaughn and three sisters.


Survivors include: son, Max Kennedy, now residing in Calhoun Nursing Home, Edison, Ga.; daughter, Cindy Willis and her husband, Richard, Dothan; granddaughter, Rickelle Lewis and her husband Shaun Lewis, Atlanta, Ga.


Pallbearers will be: Richard Willis, Joel Willis, and Neil Willis.


Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements.
