Mrs. Vesta Grimes Peek of Ozark passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 5, 2023, from First Ozark United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither and Reverend Melanie Sebastian-Foust officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. in Peaceful Acres Memorial Gardens in Opp, Alabama, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Thursday in the church Sanctuary from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
Vesta was born in Opp, Alabama to Lem and Ruth Hickman Grimes on March 24, 1938. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Sue Grimes Lawrence; and her brother, Clarence (CJ) Grimes.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jimmy R. Peek; one son, Scott Peek, of Waverly, Alabama; one daughter, Melody Peek, of Dothan; and one granddaughter, Maury Harden, of Fairhope, Alabama.
Vesta was an active member of First Ozark United Methodist Church and served in many roles in the Susanne Johnson United Methodist Women’s Circle. She will be remembered for her quick wit, her infectious smile, her creativity and her generosity.
Her family would like to thank DaySpring Hospice and all of her caregivers for the loving care that Vesta received.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Vesta Peek can be made to the Wiregrass Area Food Bank, 382 Twitchell Road, Dothan, AL 36303; or to Embrace Alabama Kids, 3140 Zelda Court, Suite 100, Montgomery, AL 36106-2607.
