Mrs. Virginia Beard, age 71, a resident of Dothan, died Monday June 30, 2014 at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness. 


Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday July 3, 2014 at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Brian Cowley officiating and Mr. Harrison Parrish sharing the eulogy.  Burial will follow in the Slocomb City Cemetery with Kendall Glover of Glover Funeral Home directing. 


The family will be receiving friends from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Thursday at Glover Funeral Home.  Flowers will be accepted. 


Mrs. Beard was born on March 13, 1943 in Geneva County the daughter of Herman Loyd McClellan and Bernice Ailene Sullivan McClellan.  She has lived in Dothan most of her adult life.  Mrs. Beard was a 1961 Graduate of Geneva County High School and was of the Methodist faith.  Virginia retired from GTE as a department manager.  She also was the office manager and administrator for Weezer’s in Dothan. 


She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Daniel McClellan and a grandson, Blake Kelly. 


She is survived by two daughters, Terri Poellot of Dothan and Tammi Smith of Fadette; a son, Steve (Brandee) Waters; granddaughters, Emily and Madelyn Waters of Dothan; a sister, Lyndle Wright of Slocomb and several nieces, nephews, friends and classmates. 


Pallbearers will be: Rich Bourkard, Whit Hewes, Randy McLendon, Neil Cobb, Gil Brannon and Larry Hendrix.
