Mrs. Virginia Nowell Harrell, age 94, of Dothan, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 23, 1928 to the late Russell J. Nowell and Maldrie Mae Peacock Nowell, Virginia attended the Cottonwood School System. On January 15, 1945, she married the love of her life, Cecil Harrell. She retired from Dothan Manufacturing after 25 years and continued to work at Sony for five years until she had to medically retire.
She loved to cook, especially desserts, which she shared with all her family and friends. Everyone who knew her experienced her kindness and her servant’s heart. Her favorite hobby was fishing with her best friends, Peggy and Ed Fails. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Cowarts, Alabama.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil G. Harrell; her son, Tony Harrell; her sisters, Runnette Lynch Dione and Grace Campbell; and her brother, Omar Nowell.
She was a devoted and loving mother to Sylvia and Roy Gross of Cowarts, AL and Susan and Martin Marsh of Dothan. This devotion and unmeasurable love extended to her three grandchildren who thought she was precious, perfect, and the most loving “granny”, Eddie Gross of Cowarts, AL, Eric and Jennifer Marsh of Pinckard, AL and Bethany and Shane Wise of Dothan. She extended a special love to her four great-grandchildren who she cherished with all her heart, Christopher and Caiden Marsh of Pinckard, AL and Sabella and Finn Wise of Dothan, who all knew her as Gigi. She extended her love to her brothers, James and Sandy Nowell of Campbellton, FL and Larry Nowell of Cottonwood, AL; her sister-in-law, Donna Nowell of Graceville, FL and special niece and nephew, Rhonda Lynch Pipkin and Ronald Lynch, both of Dothan. She was the only surviving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
