Mrs. Voncile James of Slocomb passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Flowers Hospital. She was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, in Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Slocomb with Rev. Doug Dowdey and Rev. Royce Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Burns Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Voncile was born on May 18, 1930 in Geneva County, AL to the late J. C. and Ruby Robinson Hughes. She was a member of Burns Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by a son: Raymond Gene James; grandson: Anthony Thomley, son-in-law: James Parker, and father of her children: Norman James.
Survivors include two daughters: Shirley Hatcher (Roger), Kathy Parker all of Slocomb; one son: Johnny James (Becky) of Slocomb; four sisters: Mert Smith (Lloyd) of Midland City, Mary Holland of Dothan; Carolyn Fowler (Rodney) of Cottonwood, Evelyn Robinson of Orlando, FL; one brother: Johnny Mack Hughes (Martha) of Slocomb; two grandchildren: Dustin Thomley and Don Wilson (Elizabeth); three great grandchildren: Cameron, Brianna and Braden Thomley; several nieces and nephews.
