Wanda Mae Hedrick Petersen age 88, of Dothan passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the home of her son.



Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Reverend Jody Hadden officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.



The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 P.M to 6 P. M. Saturday, January 2, 2021.



She worked many years at Airport Security and in her earlier years she worked as a paramedic in Dale County and volunteered for Dale County Rescue. She also worked as a dispatcher for the Midland City Police Department. She was a member of Napier Field United Methodist Church and attended Grimes United Methodist Church



Mrs. Petersen is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Carl H. Petersen, parents Olda and William Hedrick, 2 sisters Lola Allen and Lavonia Sherrard, 1 brother Bill Hedrick, 2 nieces Lynda Jenks of NC; and Sharon Black of Ardmore, OK; granddaughter Kristina Hartzog Ritchie and great-grandson Shannon Beach, Jr.



Survivors include 2 sons Marlin Prince Petersen (Sarah) Napier Field; Allen Petersen (Kay) of Napier Field; 1 daughter Carlla Petersen Helms (Jerrell) of Dothan; grandchildren Mark Wright (Vicki) of Dothan;  Emily Tharpe (Dwayne) of Dothan;  Kerri Payne (Scotty) of Dothan; Billy Helms (Tiffany) of Dothan;  Brad Wright (Cindi) of Dothan; Pamela Petersen of Oregon; Tony Hartzog, Jr.,of Marianna, FL;  Nicholas Petersen of Napier Field; great-grandchildren Andrew Tharpe (Lisa) of Dothan; Justin Tharpe of Tuscaloosa; Ashley Simmons of Dothan; Preston Payne (Ashley) of Midland City; Jada Payne and Branson Nall of Cowarts; Avery Wright of Dothan; Caitlin Vise of Texas; Ariana Thomas, Jasper Helms of Black; Addison Helms of Black; Aiden Fulton  of Dothan; Jerico McFarland of San Jose; Blake Wright of Dothan; Jonathan Ritchie (Keighley) of Eufaula; Kimberly Ritchie of Eufaula; great-great-grandchildren Axel and Aiden Payne of Midland City; Asher Thomas, Miley Kristina Wright of Dothan; Halayna Wright of Slocomb; and Chandler Ritchie of Eufaula, and several nieces and nephews.



Pallbearers will be Billy Helms, Avery Wright, Mark Wright, Tony Hartzog, Preston Payne, Andrew Tharpe, Justin Tharpe.


We will follow all Covid-19 safety guidelines.
