Mrs. Willie Jim “Jimmie” Spann, a resident of Dothan, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at her residence. She was 96.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Dothan with Reverend Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM on Wednesday prior to the services.
Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church “Bereavement Fund”, 300 W. Main Street, Dothan, Alabama, 36301.
Mrs. Spann was born March 25, 1926, in Newville, Alabama to William Arthur and Lucille Capps Hicks. She worked at Girard Elementary School and Rose Hill Elementary School for 13 years. Later she was a customer service representative at Regions Bank for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1988. She was an active member of First Baptist Church since 1949 where she served in several capacities including the media library and the bereavement committee.
She is predeceased by her parents, a daughter, Malinda Carol Spann, and her husband, Alex Horace Spann.
She is survived by a son, Tom Spann (Sandra) of Dothan; two sisters, Sara McCrary and Mary Jane Carter, both of Birmingham; a brother, Joe Hicks of Birmingham; several nieces and nephews also survive.
