Mrs. Wynnell Ray Simmons, of Slocomb, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 after an extended illness. She was 87.
Born June 19, 1929 in Geneva, Alabama to the late Arthur and Winnie Ray, Mrs. Simmons was a member of the Fadette Pentecostal Ministries in Slocomb. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Alford Simmons; three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Marvin) Thomas, Sandra Gail Simmons, and Peggy Simmons; her sons, Ronald (Becky) Simmons, Rickey Simmons, and Richard Simmons; her brother, Paul Ray; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM from the Fadette Pentecostal Ministries with Reverend Johnny Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, one hour prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Noah Whittington, Joshua Walker, Matthew Doty, Lindy Hallford, and Dylan Adams.
