Annie Jean Strickland, a resident of Rehobeth, died Sunday, August 15, 2021 at her home following a brief illness. She was 82.


Funeral services for Ms. Strickland will be held at 11 AM Friday, August 20, 2021 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage. Burial will follow in the Dothan City cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 10:45 AM at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to; Encompass Hospice, 3379 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL 36305.


Ms. Strickland was born in Headland to the late Elmer Ray and Rosine Estelle Bullard Beasley. She was a 1957 graduate of Dothan High School. Following graduation, she worked for many years as a Kindergarten teacher at Grandview Baptist Church before graduating from Wallace College with a degree in Nursing. Ms. Strickland worked for Flowers Hospital and later retired from Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with family, crocheting and cooking for them.


Ms. Strickland is preceded in death by her parents; son, Greg Strickland; brother and sister in law, Mack and Gay Beasley.


Survivors include her children, Danny Strickland (Molly Bel), Caryn Jackson (Freddie); grandchildren, Arieanne Cooper, Suzanne Tillman, Ryan Thornhill, Cody Strickland, Justyn Jackson (Jessica) and Caitlyn Jackson; five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a sister, Joyce Hicks (James).
