Carolyn Joice Hammond, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, died Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Flowers Hospital. She was 88.
Funeral Services will be held at 1PM Monday, September 11, 2023 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will be at 2:45 PM at Anderson Baptist Church Cemetery in Clio, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 5PM to 7PM Sunday, September 10, 2023 at the funeral home.
Carolyn was born to the late Robert and Evey Hagler Spivey on December 17, 1934 in Dale County, Alabama. After graduating from Blue Springs High School in 1953, she began her career in the sewing industry and retired after thirty-five years in 1987. Carolyn loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Grandview Baptist Church. Her hobbies included singing Sacred Harp music, listening to good gospel music, gardening, and traveling. Her greatest joy of all was making lasting memories with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James Woodard and Robert Woodard; two sisters, Shirley Ann Lingerfelt and Mary Harris; one granddaughter, Tina Hill.
Left to cherish her memories are three daughters, Sandra Helms, Donna Hill Dykes, and Kathy Thompson; one son, Steven Woodard; one sister, Sara Elswick; nine grandchildren, Rodney Helms, Rhonda Helms, Kim Hill, Kevin Thompson, Matthew Woodard, Stephene Woodard, Nicholas Woodard, Dustin Hill, and Derek Hill; thirty great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Serving as active pallbearers are Dustin Hill, Derek Hill, Nickolas Woodard, Matthew Woodard, Keithlan Reeves Jr, and Adam Dykes.
