   Ms. Carroll Hilboldt Skinner, a resident of Ozark, died Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in Dale Medical Center. She was 77 years old.

   Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 18, 2024 in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.

   The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. until service time.

   Mrs. Skinner was born February 23, 1947 in Alexander County, Illinois to the late Woodrow Edward Hilboldt, Sr. and Martha Carroll Hilboldt. Carroll grew up on Broad Street in Ozark where she played with friends who loved a little fun and were sometimes mischievous. They enjoyed spending the night at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Louise Carroll. Carroll and her friend, Berta Kingsley, volunteered to be “Wallace Girls” who passed the donation buckets and traveled with George Wallace all along the eastern seaboard during his effort to secure the Democratic candidacy. The new high school basketball coach, Cecil Skinner, had moved to Ozark and also resided on Broad Street. He caught Carroll’s eye, they were married and their son, Stuart Skinner, was born. Carroll was a 1965 graduate of Carroll High School. Eventually she moved to Birmingham where she worked as a sales lady in women’s clothing and was visited often by her parents. Later on she traveled to Austin, Texas to visit high school friends and returned to Ozark to make her home.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death last week by her brother, Woodrow Edward Hilboldt, Jr..

   Carroll is survived by her son, Walter Stuart Skinner; and brother, John Carroll Hilboldt (Susan).

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
