Ms. Ethelyne Aplin Crews of Samson, Alabama went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, December 11, 2011. She was 78.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, at the Samson First Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Totten officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, December 13, from 6 until 8 p.m.
The family asked that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Samson First Baptist Church for Samson Baptist Academy, 100 W. Main Street, Samson, AL 36477.
Ms. Crews was born April 12, 1933, in Geneva County to the late James Houston and Mary Ruth Alford Aplin. After more than 20 years of service, she retired from the Geneva County Commission as a purchasing agent. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Samson where she taught Sunday School for many years and also volunteered at the Church Academy.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Dotson Crews (Tanya), Birmingham; four daughters: Dorothy Gayle Smith (Michael), Nashville, TN, Sandra Joyce Gillis (Steve), Samson, Rosemary Harrison (Jimmy), Darlington, FL, Julie Michelle Sego (Richie), Gainesville, GA; one brother, Ellis Ray Aplin (Margaret), Samson; two sisters: Josephine Beadenkopf (James), Summerville, AL, Linda Sue Robinson (Joe), Tuscaloosa, AL; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
