Ms. Janet Diane Smith Sellers, a resident of Valley Center, California and originally from Ozark, passed away comfortably Saturday afternoon March 18, 2023 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her family. Her treasured photographs of her great-granddaughter, Sadie, were close by her side. She was 88 years old.
Funeral services for Ms. Sellers will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 30, 2023, from Camp Ground Baptist Church with Reverend Tommy Green officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
The family will receive friends Thursday in the church from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
Ms. Janet Diane Smith Sellers was born on June 19, 1934 in Ozark, Alabama to the late James Ramsey Smith and Eulalia Andrews Smith. She lived most of her adult life in Virginia Beach, Virginia where she raised her family. She was a wonderful, supportive mother who put others’ needs before her own. She loved gardening and beautiful flowers. She loved collecting, mostly china, whether Belleek or Flow Blue or just a pretty dish. She also loved watching football games on TV.
Janet was preceded in death by her son, Henry Gerald "Jerry" Sellers, Jr.; her sister, Elsie "Betsy" Smith; her brother, Ralph "Buddy" Smith; and first cousins, Toni Juneau (Ken) and Jim Crumpler. She is survived by her daughter, Patti Metzger (Jack) of Valley Center, California, her granddaughter, Erin Metzger (Greg Taylor-Broun) and her beloved great-granddaughter, Sadie Grace Taylor-Broun all of Escondido, California.
Other survivors include nieces, Ginger Dean (Donnie) of Wicksburg, Alabama and Elizabeth Bailey (Don) of Greenville, South Carolina; and cousins Charlotte Hughes (Tony), Carolyn Sue Johnson (Bill) and Cindy Brasher (Keith) all of Ozark.
