Obituary: Ms. Jeanette Price
Ms. Jeanette Price, age 86, went to be with her Savior and Lord on May 14 2022, at her residence surrounded by those who loved her.
Born in Hartford, Alabama, on January 31, 1936, Jeanette was the oldest child of Rex, Sr. and Inez Cobb. She was selected as Miss Hartford in the seventh grade and belonged to the Beta Club throughout her high school years. After graduating as the Valedictorian of her 1954 Class at Geneva County High School, she married her high school sweetheart, James (Jimmy) Price. Jeanette worked at Fort Rucker, Alabama, as a Manpower Analyst for 32 years. She retired from the Department of Army as Chief of Manpower, Directorate of Resource Management, in May 2000. She was selected as Woman of the Year and received many other distinguished Civilian Service Awards during her tenure at Fort Rucker. Also, she was the first woman at Fort Rucker to receive the prestigious Order of St. Michael Award. She met many military heroes and heroines, selfless civilian servants, hard-working supervisors, and valuable contractors who worked tirelessly and long hours to make sure Army Aviation was always successful. She had to perform many manpower decreases over the years, but always worked relentlessly to save as many jobs as possible because she said she knew all the faces in those jobs. She always tried to help others with manpower issues. She believed in the important mission of Army Aviation on the battlefield. She loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Hartford Garden Club and loved beautiful flowers. Ms. Jeanette was a life-long member of Hartford Baptist Church and loved Jesus. She served in numerous positions at church, including Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, Sunbeams/Acteens leader, Discipleship Training teacher, her Women’s Group’s Program Director, and on various other church committees, to help carry out the Lord’s work in the church she loved so much.
Ms. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Price; her brothers, Rex Cobb, Jr.; Early Wynn, Jr.; and her parents, Rex and Inez Cobb, Sr.; and her father-in-law and mother in-law, Webster and Frankie Price. Survivors include her two sisters, Ms. Sandra Blount, Dothan, AL; Ms. Barbara Hidle, Slocomb, AL; two sisters-in-law, Ms. Sue Moring, Valparaiso, FL; Ms. Susan Price, Dothan, AL; her son, Danny Price, Panama City Beach, FL; daughter, Mrs. Deborah Craig (Joe), Hartford, AL; daughter, Mrs. Donna Smith (Charlie), Dothan, AL; grandson, Heath Loftin (Jada), Cohutta, GA; grandson, Jamie Craig (Jessica), Pensacola, FL; grandson, Neal Smith, Santa Rosa Beach, FL; grandson, Clai Smith, Troy, AL; and grandson, Todd Craig (Ashley), Smyrna, GA; granddaughter, Mrs. Ashley Tate (Ryan), Hartford, AL; and granddaughter, Mrs. Tiffany Craig (Jason), Dothan, AL.
