Minnie “Lourene” Brock, of Malvern, formally of Dothan, broke her earthly bonds on June 29, 2024. Ms. Brock passed peacefully into the arms of our loving Father, after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, sister, and friend.
Lourene was born in Brundidge Alabama on April 23, 1942 to William Lewis and Marylee (Kelly) Spivey. She was the 5th of 7 children. Lourene attended Pike County Schools, and also attended Wallace Community College.
In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by a son; Kenneth Earl Strickland, a sister; Mary Ann Jones, a brother; William Cleveland Spivey, and brothers in law; J.W. Yeomans, Donald McGrady, and Bobby Jordan.
She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter Peggy (Larry) Cotton, and son William Jeter Brock II. 5 Grandsons: Wes (Meagan) Roberts, Mike (Kelley) Atwell, Gabe (Kim) Adams, Randall (Amber) Adams, and Larry (Tara) Cotton. 6 Grandaughters: Johna (Todd) Rivera, Toni (Nathan) Head, Kendell (John) Gibson, Philena (Sam) Rodriguez, Melissa (Allen) Harvell, and Tracy (Chase) Dickerson. 4 sisters: Frances Yeomans, Nell (David) Judah, Jean McGrady, and Diane Jordan
Ms. Brock also had 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on July 13th, 2024 at 1pm in the chapel of Glover Funeral Home of Dothan. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Research, or a local Animal Rescue Shelter.
The family would like to thank her loving and devoted cargiver Toni Head and The Southern Care Hospice Team: Kierra, Amie, Cherrie, and Chaplin Kevin.
