Ms. Omega Pippin Lewis of Montgomery, Alabama passed into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ Monday, July 16, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. She was 69.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, at New Home Baptist Church in Samson with Rev. Joel Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continue until service time.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New Home Cemetery Fund.
Ms. Lewis was born October 14, 1942, in Geneva County to the late Smith Salathiel and Eula Mae Zorn Pippin. She was born and raised just south of Samson in the New Home Community. Omega graduated from Samson High School and later attended Business College in Montgomery. She worked in Civil Service positions at Alabama military bases. She enjoyed her VW Beetle Convertible, music, and keeping up with current events, especially the political situation. She was a great supporter of the U.S. Military. She was a lifelong member and supporter of New Home Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, a sister, Linda Mae Pippin, six half-siblings: Louie Pippin, Waree Thames, Leon Pippin, Fausteen Roney, Walter F. Pippin and William E. “Dick” Zorn, as well as an infant child, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include one brother, Kenneth S. Pippin (Ronna), Charlotte, NC; four half-siblings: James Pippin Alford, Enterprise, Lucille Jones, Elba, Merle Boswell, Lebanon, IL, and Bobby Jean Pippin, Montgomery; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
