Ms. Ruby Nell Shelley Ward, age 69, a resident of Cowarts, died Monday October 10, 2016 at her residence after an extended illness.

Glover Funeral Home is in charge of cremation services and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ms. Ward was born on November 23, 1946 in Henry County the daughter of George Edward Shelley and Annie Mae Bowen Shelley.  Ms. Ward was retired from housekeeping at the SAMC and she was of Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Dottie Lewis and Lorene Smith; 3 brothers, Christopher “Lucky” Shelley, Shelby Ray Shelley and Johnny Shelley.

Survivors include: daughter, Cindy Spurlock and a son, Curtis Spurlock both of Duluth, Minnesota; 3 sisters, Ann Pippin, Cowarts; Susan Jervis, Avon More, Pa.; Jerry Vasko, Pittsburgh, Pa.; 6 brothers, Terry Shelley, Dothan; Roger Shelley, Vero Beach, FL.; J.B. Shelley, Eufaula; Allen Shelley, Dothan; Freddie Shelley, Webb; and James Shelley, Webb; 2 grandchildren.
