Ms. Russie Mary Polson Daughtry, of Geneva, Alabama passed away Sunday, December 24 2017. She was 103.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, Alabama, with the Rev. Shawn Hales and Brother Roger Davis officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery in Elba, Alabama with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Ms. Daughtry was born October 16, 1914 in Coffee County Alabama to the late Zachariah and Lelia Rossie Ellenburg Polson. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved God and was a faithful servant and a member of the Geneva Church of God where she taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed working for the Lord. She loved to cook, and gave out good advice and at times could be feisty. She never owned a television until her later years and loved to watch The Dukes of Hazzard, especially liked Bo , Luke and the General Lee.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Billy Wayne Daughtry, granddaughter, Shanna Lee Healy, four sisters; Nellie Belle, Louise Allen, Effie Lou Moore and Chessie Lee Mobley; four brothers; Marvin Polson, Rupert Daniel Polson, Lee Ander Polson and Johnny Easil Polson.
Flowers will be accepted or donations maybe made to the Geneva Church of God building fund.
She is survived by one grandchild; Millicent Garza, one great-grandchild Christopher Garza, a number of nieces and nephews and special cousins.
