Virginia Gail Benton Tomlin, a resident of Daleville, died at her residence Monday, June 25, 2012. She was 60.


Funeral services for Virginia will be held at 11 AM Thursday, June 28, 2012 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Rev. Aubrey Sullivan officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM prior to the services. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery with Southern Heritage directing. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity. At all other times the family will be at the home of Bobbie Sylvester, 105 Cedar Chase Court, Dothan, AL 36303.


Virginia was born in Houston County on November 27, 1951 to Raymond H. and Inez Holmes Benton. She enjoyed reading, watching television and could talk on the phone for hours. Virginia was of the Assemblies of God faith and attended Newton Assembly of God.


Virginia is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry Holmes Benton.


Survivors include her son, Chris McCarty, Dothan; four sisters, Bobbie (Gene) Sylvester, Dothan, Carolyn McLaney, Dothan, Linda (Gary) Yarbrough, Midland City, Debbie Barrett, Dothan; three brothers, Hilburn (Barbara) Benton, Newton, Wilbur (Nancy) Benton, Prattville, Roger Benton, Newton; numerous nieces and nephews.


Serving as active pallbearers will be her nephews.
