MSG Bruno Trenkler (United States Army, Retired) a resident of Daleville, died Thursday, May 20, 2021, at his home. He was 90 years old.


Funeral services  will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Ozark with Reverend Chad Ingle officiating.  Interment will follow in Daleville Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until service time.


MSG Trenkler was born September 5, 1930 in Rostershuetz, Poland and came to the United States following World War II.  He settled in Racine, Wisconsin and was drafted into the United States Army. He met and married the love of his life, Susanne, in Kentucky where she was a German exchange student and they remained married 67 years. MSG Trenkler served in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, Texas, Georgia and retired in Daleville following twenty-one years of service.  He attended Wallace College where he trained as an electrician and worked as an electrician with Civil Service at Fort Rucker for twenty years.  Bruno and Susanne opened Maytag Laundry in Daleville in 1984 and operated that business for thirty years.  He was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Ozark and was an avid gardener.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto Karl Trenkler and Irma Kintzel Trenkler;  his wife of 67 years, Susanne Marie Duerrich Trenkler; one sister, Alice Trenkler Pingle; and two brothers, Georg Trenkler and Victor Trenkler.


Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Sonja and Douglas Wilhelm of Apex, North Carolina and Sabina Wilson of Richmond, Virginia; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Bruno and Tamera Trenkler of Dothan, Martin and June Trenkler of Daleville, Thomas Trenkler of Hendersonville, Tennessee, David Trenkler of Daleville;   grandchildren, Christa Ray, Benjamin Trenkler, Alexandra Trenkler, Stephen Trenkler, Kimberly Trenkler, James Trenkler, Melanie Trenkler, Noah Trenkler, Jacob Wilson, Madeline Wilson, Alan-Michael Wilson, Anneliese Wilhelm, and Julianna Wilhelm; and two great grandchildren, Eva Ray and Aeralyn Ray.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1500 East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama  36360.
