MYRTLE ADKINSON HENDERSON
DOTHAN. . .Myrtle Adkinson Henderson, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday morning, March 2, 2014. She was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Jody Haddan officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the mortuary. At other times, the family will be at the home of Judy and Roger Simpler, 103 Southwood Court, Dothan.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302, or to Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mrs. Henderson was born in Barbour County, near Texasville, daughter of the late John Willie Adkinson and Ida Henderson Adkinson. She moved to Houston County at an early age and lived in Hodgesville for the past twenty years. Mrs. Henderson was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Dothan. She participated in the Taylor Senior Citizens, the Madrid Senior Citizens, volunteered for Covenant Hospice and at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Mrs. Henderson was retired from Sony in Dothan and was formerly employed by Wex-Tex Manufacturing Company in Ashford, Dothan Hosiery Mill, and Reliable Cleaners. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Henderson, Jr., a son, Willie Steave Henderson, and all her brothers and sisters.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Judy Simpler (Roger); and a son, Marcus Henderson (Debbie Epps), all of Dothan; five grandchildren, Jason Simpler, Nikki Henderson, Kristen Hyde (Lee), David Henderson (Megan), and William Epps; two great-grandchildren, Grant Hyde and John Parker Hyde.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Ronnie Brown, Johnny Waters, Bobby Jackson, Kenny Jackson, Tommy Taylor, and Tommy Simpler.
