ABBEVILLE. . .Myrtle Money “Chicken” Moring, a resident of Abbeville, died Wednesday night, September 17, 2014, at her home after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, September 21, 2014, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Tom Anderson and Reverend Ross Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church “Missions Fund”, 310 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Moring was born and reared in the Wesley Community of Henry County, daughter of the late James Cephas Money and Queen Esther Blalock Money. A former member of the N.C.O. Wives, she lived in various locations in the United States and overseas while her husband served in the U. S. Air Force. Mrs. Moring returned to Abbeville in 1975. She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she taught a children’s Sunday school class and was involved in the church nursery. Mrs. Moring retired from Ezzell’s in Abbeville as a sales clerk. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice Money and Mildred Money, and three brothers, Rupert Money, Hubert Money, and Rudolph Money.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Billy Moring, Abbeville; two daughters, Mary Esther Moring (Robert Bruce Rackleff), Washington, DC; and Renee’ Moring Debaste, Seattle, WA; two sons, James Robert Moring, Charleston, SC; and B. K. Moring (Amy), St. John’s, FL; two sisters, Florence Armstrong, Abbeville; and Barbara Chrouser (Daniel), Fort Collins, CO; a brother, Jim Money (Ruth), Columbus, GA; a sister-in-law, Lucille Money, Dothan; seven grandchildren, Danielle Debaste, Billy Debaste (Katie), Dylan Moring, Cody Moring, Hannah Moring, Alexandria Moring, and Grace Moring.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Dylan Moring, Cody Moring, Bobby Armstrong, Jay Money, Robin Money, Jim Money, Billy Roch Debaste and Carl Money.
The Moring family would like to especially thank all the caregivers that patiently cared for mother and the family over the past eight years, and for all the prayers and support from professionals, friends, churches and extended family.
