HEADLAND…Nan York Johnson, a resident of Headland, died Monday, July 17, 2017 at her home. She was 72.


            Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Larry Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted.      


            Mrs. Johnson, daughter of the late Edwin Maxwell York and Ida Marice Glover York, was a native of Midland City and has lived in Headland most of her adult lifetime. In earlier years, she co-owned and operated Headland IGA with her husband, the late Buell Don Johnson, Jr. and also was secretary for Johnson Hay Farms. She was a member of Tolbert Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a son, Mike Johnson; three brothers, Ted York, Max York and Don York.


            Surviving relatives include a son, Brad Johnson (Brittney), Headland; a sister, Sue York Shelley, Tumbleton and sisters-in-law, Rona York, Dothan and Sara Skipper (Jimmy), Newton; four grandchildren, Blake Johnson (Chelsey), Connor Johnson (Haley), Brendan Woodham and Shelby Woodham; five great grandchildren, Bentley Johnson, Makinley Johnson, Camden Johnson, Jax Johnson and Kyleigh Johnson.


             Serving as active pallbearers will be Kenny Woodham, Shelton Murphy, Wesley Harrison, Sam Hamm, Frankie Rollins, and Harrison Mullins.
