Nancy Heriot, age 64 a Florida resident died Friday afternoon February 8, 2019 at South Eastern Alabama Medical Center, a Dothan hospital.


A celebration of life service will be held at 5pm on Saturday, February 16th at Crosspoint Church of Point Washington in (South) Walton County, Florida with Family First Funeral & Cremation Care orchestrating local arrangements.


Ms. Heriot was born in Pittsburg, PA., daughter of the late James Fairgrieve Heriot and Mary Louise Kloss Heriot.  She served in the U.S. Army Reserves and served active duty in the Air Force in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm.  Nancy worked in the medical field for the last 30 years, earning a Nurse Practitioners license, the ARNP in 10 states. She graduated from Triadelphia High School in Wheeling, WV in 1972, received a Bachelor in Psychology at WVU in 1978, her LPN at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington and USNY in 1992, finished her Masters of Science in Nursing in 1995 also at WVU, and continued her education to work towards her Ph. D. at the University of Pittsburgh.  In high school she participated in Pep, Cotillion, Math, Basketball, Vice President, Varsity, Spanish, Ski, Football, Publication, Staff, Exchange, GAA Sports and Circulation Editor Clubs. She received numerous awards in the Military for her outstanding service such as the Expert Marksmanship for Grenades and the Sharpshooter Award giving her the nickname, Hawkeye Heriot. She also received Metals including the: U.S. Army Accommodation, U.S. Army Achievement, Army Reserve Component Achievement, and the National Defense Service Metal.  She especially enjoyed crafting, writing, cooking, traveling, making friends, and reaching out to those who were in need but her greatest joy in life was becoming a mother and grandmother. 


Survivors include her daughter Amy Jane Heriot of Panama City Beach, a brother Dr. James H. (Ellen Gwyn) Heriot of Gulf Breeze, 2 sisters Ruthanne Heriot of Harpers Ferry, WV, Susan (Paul) Aiello of Isle of Palms, SC., and one grandson Conner Allen Roberts.


The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Association, 250 Williams St NW, Atlanta, GA 30303.


Care for the Hariot family is being provided by Randy Crenshaw, Jason Shepard and the staff at Family First.
