Nancy W. Palmer of Midland City/Dothan, Alabama passed away on July 17, 2013 after a lengthy stay in Flowers Hospital due to a stroke with heart and lung failure. Ms. Palmer was 72 years old.


Funeral services will be held 3 pm Saturday, July 20th at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Edenfield of Bethlehem Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.


Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steven B. Taylor, Joshua L. Taylor, step-grandsons, Ben Thomley, Mark Shiver, and from her church, Tom Peoples and Hugh Peacock.


Ms. Palmer is a native of Jacksonville, Florida but has lived in Midland City, Alabama and the Wiregrass area for over 45 years. She was a retired dental assistant and an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Midland City, Alabama, and served as a Sunday School teacher. She actively reached out to all her neighbors and members of her church she was in contact with and was loved by many. In her last years she was limited to her driving but still reached out to anyone she was in contact with.


Ms. Palmer is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda T. Taylor and Nancy T. Shiver, and her son-in-law, Tommy J. Shiver; three grandchildren, Steven B. Taylor and his wife, Charlene S. Taylor of San Marcos, Texas, Joshua L. Taylor of San Marcos, Texas, and Kelly Shiver of Midland City, Alabama; three step-grandchildren, Brandi S. Thomley and her husband, Ben Thomley, Mark Shiver and his wife, Emily Shiver, and Ricky Shiver, all of Dothan, Alabama. She was also expecting her first great-grandchild in September, 2013, "Liam Charles Taylor," son of Steven and Charlene Taylor.
