Narva Jean Gibson Reynolds of Geneva passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023. She was 93. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the Geneva First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Rosetta officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Mrs. Reynolds was born in Greenville, AL on September 20, 1929, to the late John Kinion Gibson and Janie Alums Gibson. She was the seventh of nine children. She was an active member of the Geneva First United Methodist Church. She graduated as the salutatorian
of Greenville High School. She then began her career as a legal secretary and worked in Greenville, Columbia, SC, Andalusia, and Geneva, and continued for fifty years until she retired in 1997.
In 1960, she and her husband, Robert Reynolds, relocated to Geneva where he served as County Agent with the Auburn University Extension Service until his death in 2005. She and her husband visited all fifty states, Italy, Canada, Central America, Nova Scotia, and the Carribbean Islands. She continued traveling after her husband’s death. With the help of Chris Ewing and Roger Simpson, she continued the blueberry, grape, and scuppernong vineyard her husband had enjoyed after his retirement. She furnished her grandchildren with Mama Jean’s grape jelly.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by granddaughter, Alison Reynolds, and seven of her eight siblings.
She is survived by three sons, Robert C. Reynolds, Jr. “Bobby” (Betty Kay) of Knoxville, TN, James Kinion Reynolds “Kin” (Natasha) of Fairhope, AL, and David Keith Reynolds (Karen) of Baroda, MI; five grandchildren, Ashley (Chad), Alyse, Bret, Christie (Chris), and Rachel; four great-grandchildren, Mattie, Lila, McKenzie, and Jamie.
