NATHAN J. JONES
NEWVILLE.… Nathan J. Jones, a resident of Henry County Health & Rehabilitation, formerly of Newville, AL, passed away Monday morning, March 9, 2020. He was 94.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. Zachary Jones, Nathan’s grandson, will give the eulogy. A private family burial will follow at a later time at Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory are in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Jones was born in Henry County, Alabama, to the late James Nathan Jones and Alma Belle Knowles Jones. He was a member of the Union Springs Baptist Church in Newville, Alabama. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1943 until 1947 in the European theater in WWII. After his military career, he worked as a purchasing agent with the U.S. Civil Service at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he retired with 29 years of service.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings Lucille Jones Bond, Edna Earl Parmer, A.T. Jones, Leon Jones, Bernice Jones, Robert Jones, Jimmy Jones, and Billy Jones.
Cherishing his memories are his wife Agnes L. Jones; daughter, Vicky Trammell (Eugene) of New Braunfels, Texas; sons, Mickey Jones of Columbus, Georgia, Shane Jones (Robin) of Smiths Station, Alabama, and Bernhard Draiscol of Santa Fe, New Mexico; nine grandchildren, Rachel Farmer Holt, Benjamin Farmer, Rebekah Farmer Knox, Eugene Trammell, Jr, David Trammell, Anastasia Trammell, Zachary Jones, Hannah Jones Young, and Jennifer Jones; and seven great-grandchildren.
