Nava Lou Hines Bowman, a resident of Enterprise Nursing Home, passed away, Monday, March 02, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Billy Cardwell and Rev. Tony Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Old Tabernacle Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Old Tabernacle Cemetery Fund, % Shannon Clark, 11592 Hwy. 51, New Brockton, AL 36351.
She was born April 27, 1917 in the Hawridge community to Steven Rufus Hines and Lela Dale Crumpler Hines the youngest of five children. The Ft. Rucker reservation took her father’s farm in 1937. He bought another farm in the Eanon community, there she met and married J. C. Bowman in 1940 and they had two sons, Hines and Jimmy Bowman. They sharecropped, worked in chair shops and she worked at shirt factories until she retired. She enjoyed fishing and going to the New Hope senior citizens center. She attended El Bethel Assembly of God Church.
Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Bowman, her father, Steven Rufus Hines, her mother, Lela Dale Crumpler Hines, two brothers, Lunnie Gethal Hines and Vernie Griffin Hines, two sisters, Emily Pearl Hines Hornsby and Polly Pastel Hines Simmons.
Survivors are sons, Hines Bowman (Shirley) and Jimmy Bowman (Retha) of New Brockton, AL, one grandson, Dwayne Bowman (Delisa) and one great-grandson, Devon Oliver Bowman of Enterprise, AL.
