Neal Vinson, Dothan,Al, Celebration of Life Service

Neal Vinson passed away at home just 5 days shy of his 58th birthday, surrounded by his children and siblings, who sang praises as he left for his new life in God’s presence, on July 19, 2021.

Celebration of Life service for Neal will be 4 PM, Sunday August 8st, at First Presbyterian Church Dothan, Alabama.
A second Celebration Memorial will take place in Clanton, where they resided 13 years, the following Sunday, August 15, 4pm-7pm, at The Back Forty.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Vinson, who died in February of this year. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jennifer (Redus) Vinson; four children – Ivey, Clay, Baylie, and Zach Vinson; his mother, Mary Vinson; sisters Debbie (Robert) Armstrong and Charlotte (Teddy) Ward and brother Greg (Pam) Vinson; fifteen nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.

Neal was born in Dothan, graduated from Slocomb HS, and earned his BS at Auburn University. He played Defensive End on the football team, ’83-‘87. He earned an M.Ed. at University of Montevallo.

He and Jennifer were missionaries on various university campuses, in the US and New Zealand; he mentored and shepherded businessmen, students, families, connecting them with God and with finding their calling in life.

Neal was a pastor as well as Director of Alliance of Marketplace Leaders in Auckland, New Zealand when they discovered his pancreatic cancer in March of this year. They moved back to his hometown Dothan for treatment and to be with family.

He was adored by his wife and children. His life was one of giving, serving, shepherding, listening and lifting others up. He loved the Lord, loved his family and loved others deeply and genuinely!

You can visit with Neal's family from 3-4pm in the church, the service starts at 4pm.
