PANAMA CITY BEACH, FLORIDA. . .Nelda Brackin Creel Prokopchuk, a resident of Panama City Beach, Florida, formerly of Dothan, died Tuesday morning April 26, 2022, at her home. She was 76.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Friday, April 29, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Steve Irwin officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Woodlawn Church “We Care” (Food Pantry), 219 N Alf Coleman Road, Panama City Beach, FL 32407.
Nelda Prokopchuk was born and reared in Houston County, near Columbia, daughter of the late Rufus J. Brackin, Sr. and Verna Mildred Smith Brackin. She lived in Dothan most of her lifetime before moving to Panama City Beach in 2009. Nelda was a member of the Woodlawn Church, Panama City Beach. She was retired from Acceptance Insurance Company as an Insurance Agent. In earlier years, Nelda owned and operated Kiddieland Day Care Center in Dothan. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Wayne Creel, her sisters, Frances Holmes, Mildred Newman, Betty Jean Parker, Henrietta Gray and Shirley Bumpus, a brother, Rufus “Buster” Brackin, Jr., and a step-son, Gregory Prokopchuk.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Donald Charles Prokopchuk, a son, Phillip Wayne Creel (Melany), Panama City Beach, FL; a step-daughter, Wendy Prokopchuk Perez, Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Cathy Ross, Headland; four grandchildren, Andrew Creel, Jack Creel, Marigrace Creel and Sara Claire Creel; five step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
