Mrs. Nell G. Chapman “Mama Nell” of Geneva passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mama Nell was born on January 3, 1927, in Troy, Alabama, to the late William and Bertha Grace. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She loved her LORD above all else. She always put her family first and foremost ahead of her own needs. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Geneva, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a world traveler, cookbook author, and supportive member of the Geneva community. Her caring nature toward others is a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.
She was preceded in death by her husband F. E. Chapman, her daughter Gayle Dixon of Geneva, Al, and two sisters Mabel Rushing of Montgomery, Al, and Gertrude Anderson of Troy, Al. She is survived by her daughters Reba Newell (Terry) of Samson, Al, and Pam Calhoun (Mark) of Geneva, Al. Her grandchildren Jason Newell (Dora) of Montevallo, Al, Jamie Dixon Weeks (Brad) of Geneva, Al, Terra Newell Mack (Justin) of Geneva, Al, Joshua Dixon of Northport, Al, Blake Calhoun (Hannah) of Dothan, Al, and Brandon Calhoun of Denver, Co. She was a proud great-grandmother to Neil Mack, Abigayle Weeks, Peyton Mack, Eliza Newell, and Barrett Calhoun.
We were truly blessed by God to have her with us for 95 years. We will cherish our memories, and she will live in our hearts until we meet again.
Services will be held at the Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will begin at 1:00 on Friday, August 19, 2022, followed by funeral and graveside services at 2:00. Serving as Pallbearers are James Dixon, Terry Newell, Mark Calhoun, Jason Newell, Josh Dixon and Blake Calhoun.
