HALEBURG…Nicodemus (Nick) Weems, a resident of Haleburg, died early Tuesday morning, April 28, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. He was 92.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 30, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Coley M. Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in the Haleburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the T S Alliance, c/o Jessica Sanders, 106 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mr. Weems was a lifelong resident of Haleburg, son of the late Marion Perry Weems and Neita Mae Strickland Weems. He was formerly employed by the Stromberg Carlson Company as a telephone system installer on the eastern coast of the United States. In later years, he was employed as a truck driver and security guard with Couch, Inc. of Dothan. A naturally gifted artist, Mr. Weems was a fan of Atlanta Braves baseball and Alabama football and also enjoyed watching western movies. He was a member of the Haleburg Baptist Church. Mr. Weems was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert F. (Buddy) Weems and Billy Perry Weems.
Surviving relatives include two sisters, Mary M. Weems, Haleburg; and Martha I. Sanders, Abbeville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Ronnie Sanders, Greg Sanders, Todd Sanders, Perry Weems, Billy Wayne Bedsole, and Joe Weems.
