Nome R. Crews of Samson passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019.  She was 85.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Samson with Rev. Robert Davis and Rev. Mike Shortt, officiating.  Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.


Mrs. Crews was born in Coffee County, AL on June 10, 1933, to the late Bruce and Estelle Williams Rainey. She was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church.  Prior to her retirement, she managed the lunchroom staff in the Geneva County School System for many years.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Rudolph Rainey; and a sister, Lavonia McCluskey.


She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-six years, Fox Crews; two daughters, Sharon Hutto (Tommy) of Atlanta, GA, and Melissa Frost (James) of Samson; son, Dewayne Crews of Samson; two grandchildren, Justin Crews and Rebekka Thames, both of Samson; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden Hudspeth, Gauge Thames, Mikayla Thames, William Thames, Eli Hughes, Mendel Crews, Marcus Crews; brother, Carmen Rainey; and a sister, Ann Weeks (Rex), all of Kinston.
