NONA KNOWLES SOLOMON
HEADLAND. . .Nona Knowles Solomon, a resident of Headland, died early Monday morning, November 4, 2013, at her home. She was 65.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 6, 2013, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church of Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. and Reverend Mike Wehner officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M Wednesday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Headland “Bridge To Tomorrow Building Fund”, 301 East Church Street, Headland, AL 36345.
A lifelong resident of Headland, Nona Knowles Solomon was a 1966 graduate of Headland High School and also attended Wallace Community College. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Headland and the Faith Sunday School Class and also the Larry Wells Sunday School Class. Nona formerly taught the First and Second Grade Sunday School classes for thirty-five years and had also been a member of the Chancel Choir. Nona retired as Unit Secretary in Same Day Surgery at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. In earlier years, Nona was employed by Houston Academy as the Registrar. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe H. Knowles.
Surviving relatives include her husband, John Wesley Solomon; a daughter, Abigail Solomon Phillips (Todd); a son, Ryan Solomon (Nancy); her mother, Ida Deal McGee Knowles; five grandchildren, Shelby Phillips, Logan Phillips, Collin Phillips, Emily Solomon, and Carey Solomon, all of Headland; a brother, Ronnie Knowles (Diane), Ellijay, GA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rhoda Solomon Boone and husband, Bobby, Art Solomon and wife, Jeanie, and Cheryl Solomon; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Faith Sunday School Class, the Larry Wells Sunday School Class, and the Wednesday Morning Ladies Bible Study Group.
