Norma May Hines of Daleville, AL, more recently from Bellbrook, OH, went home to Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, September 2, 2015 at 7:25 EDT at the age of 83.


Norma was born on September 6, 1931 to Harold O. Cox and Lola May Sowers Cox.  She married Edwin Louis Hines on September 30, 1949.  Her relationship to the Lord, her family and her service to the Daleville Police Department brought great joy to her life.


Norma Hines is survived by her children Edwin DeWayne Hines (Cindy), Joyce Darlene Hamilton, Cheryl Denise Hanna (Kenneth); grandchildren, Rebecca Hines Griffin (Marcus), Amanda Hines, Eric Hamilton (Elizabeth), David Hamilton (Melissa), Kristen Hamilton Johnson (Joshua), Lee Irby, Jason Hanna, Justin Hanna (Crystal); 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.


Norma was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Louis Hines; daughter, Barbara Sue Hines; parents, Harold and Lola Cox; son-in-law, James E. Hamilton; sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Denver Clark.


Norma graduated from Humboldt High School, Humboldt, IL.  Her love of basketball led to her high school cheerleading career.  She was a military wife of 21 years, throughout her husband’s Air Force military career.  She was also a veteran of the Daleville Police Department, serving 46 years as a school crossing guard.  She and her husband were members of the Daleville First United Methodist Church since 1968.  She served on numerous committees and was a devoted member of the church choir.


A service to celebrate Norma’s life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Daleville with Pastor John McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in Daleville Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Daleville from 10 AM until service time.
