Norma Spivey Coale of the Earlytown Community passed away from her earthly life on Thursday, July 31, 2014. She was 88. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Earlytown Church of Christ with Evangelist Kevin Presley and Mr. Robert Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Earlytown Cemetery Fund, 648 Cassie Road, Kinston, AL 36453.
Mrs. Coale was born in Samson, Ala. on March 8, 1926 to the late Talmage D. Spivey and Lola Early Spivey. She was a longtime member of the Earlytown Church of Christ and was a very devoted Christian. She was always giving her time and energy and was well known for her delicious cakes and pies, caring for others and her warm hospitality. She was a longtime nurse for Dr. H.A. Childs, Sr. After her retirement she never forgot all the lives she touched in the Samson area. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Spivey Quates; and her beloved husband of 63 years, James Albert Coale.
She is survived by her two sons, Maury Coale (Jill) of the Earlytown Community and Phillip Michael Coale of Tallahassee, Fla.; two grandchildren, Samuel Talmage Coale and Sallie Katherine Coale of Earlytown; and step granddaughters, April Hanbury (John) and Sarah Kinsey.
