OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS OF OZARK   ~   334‑774‑5348


COL Guy Hilton Payne (United States Army, Retired), 78, of Skipperville, died Wednesday, July 20, 2015, at his home.   A committal service and burial for Mr. Payne will be held at 1:30 P. M. Sunday, August 2, 2015, in Skipperville Cemetery.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, in Skipperville United Methodist Church with Reverend Freddie McCain officiating, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  COL Payne was born December 24, 1936 in Skipperville, Alabama to the late Reuben Elberton “Elbert” Payne and Zadie Delila Garner Payne. He served in the United States Army as an engineer, retiring in 1983 with the rank of Colonel. Mr. Payne was also the County Engineer for Dale County from 1983 until 1993. He was a life-long member and supporter of Skipperville United Methodist Church.   Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carol Bagley Payne of Skipperville; one daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Anne and James Perkins of Richmond, Virginia; one son, Jim Payne of Ozark; one sister, Faye Riley of the Echo Community; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan and David Baral of Tucson, Arizona; brother-in-law, Gerrold Bagley of Tucson, Arizona;  a special niece, Jocelyn Lyons Baral of Tucson, Arizona.  Several other nieces and nephews also survive.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Skipperville United Methodist Church P.
