Colonel Jacqueline Jernigan “Jackie” Williams, (United States Army, Retired), 79, of Ozark, died Sunday morning, March 5, 2017, in Dale Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from Ozark Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the family plot in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends in Ozark Baptist Church Tuesday morning from 9:00 A.M. until service time.
Colonel Williams was born in Ozark, Alabama to the late J. D. and Melba Brown Jernigan. Jackie graduated from the University of Alabama in 1960 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing and then earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. She worked in the Veterans Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee for many years. Jackie was proud to serve in the United States Army Reserve where she rose to the rank of Colonel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Williams; and her older brother, Jerry Delano Jernigan.
She leaves behind two loving sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice Melba and Larry Black, Jennie Harriett and Gene Brunner; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Reynolds and Theresa Blackman Jernigan, sister-in-law, Nina Jackson Jernigan; and Charlie, her miniature Schnauzer companion. Multiple nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff in the ER and ICU of Dale Medical Center for their extremely compassionate attention to Jackie.
