Mr. Dan Ricky “Rick” Hinderliter, age 69, of Dothan, died Friday morning, January 30, 2015, at his home.  A memorial service for Mr. Hinderliter will be held 11:00 A. M. Monday, February 2, 2015, in Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dothan with Reverend Clint McBroom and Reverend Alan Miller officiating, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the church Monday following the service.


Mr. Hinderliter was born February 20, 1945 in Dothan, Alabama to the late John Arthur Hinderliter and Clyde Lee Spears Hinderliter.  He was a native of Ozark where he graduated from Carroll High School in 1963. Rick served in the United States Air Force for four years.  Following his military service, he attended Troy University receiving his Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees in Business and Education.  He began his employment with Civil Service at Fort Rucker in 1967, retiring in January, 2000 as Chief of Air Traffic Control at Cairns Army Airfield.  Rick was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, and a past member of  Tabernacle United Methodist Church.  A life-long Methodist, he served in a leadership capacity at both churches.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Edward Hinderliter, Sr.


Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Emily Stevens Hinderliter of Dothan;  one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Steven and Aron Hinderliter of Dothan; one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Gary Edenbern of New Braunfels, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, James Arthur and Michele Hinderliter of Pinedale, Wyoming;   one sister, Wanda Smith of Pensacola, Florida;  five grandchildren, Aaron Benjamin Edenbern, Hannah Frances Edenbern, Lauren McKay Edenbern, Hensley Rhinehart Hinderliter, Richard Steven Hinderliter, II.
