OBITUARY FROM HOLMAN FUNERAL HOME OF OZARK

Mr. Dimpsy K. Strickland, a resident of Ozark, went to be with his Lord and savior Wednesday night, April 17, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness. He was 79 years of age. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Campground Baptist Church with the Reverend Al Sonanstine officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 p. m. until 7:00 p. m. Mr. Strickland was born February 14, 1934 in Cerro Gordo, North Carolina, to the late James H. Strickland and Leila Jolly Strickland. Dimpsy came to Ozark in 1956 where he was stationed at Camp Rucker in the Army until his retirement. He met Joyce Evans at the drug store where she worked and after relentless pursuit they married 1957. After his military career he began his work for the Lord in a Spanish speaking ministry, Russian ministry, and service as a Gideon. Mr. Strickland was a member of Campground Baptist Church, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years Joyce Strickland, Ozark; One Daughter, Andrea Darlene Strickland Dezso, Enterprise; One Son, Dimpsy Kelly Strickland, Jr. (Terri), Leesburg, Florida; One Sister, Gayle Bryan (Ed), North Carolina; Three Grandchildren, Samuel (and his mother Joni), Haley and Dylan Strickland. The family will be receiving flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Campground Baptist Church Building fund (3898 East Andrews Ave. Ozark, Alabama 36360).
