Mr. Gerald Gene “Jerry” Hurt, 66, of Abbeville, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, following a brief illness.

A memorial service for Mr. Hurt will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 2, 2017, in Asbury United Methodist Church with Reverend Tara Chamblee officiating.   Condolences may be expressed at www.HolmanFuneralHome.com 

Mr. Hurt was born May 26, 1951, in Lafayette, Indiana. He served in the United States Army from 1969 until 1972 and the United States Marines from 1975 until 1977.  Following his military service, Mr. Hurt worked as a Safety/Maintenance Supervisor with Wayne Farms until his retirement. He was much beloved and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Warner Hurt and Imogene Jones Myers; one sister, Shannon JoAnna Stalnaker; and one brother, Leo King, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Childers Hurt; nine children, Sondra, Shawna, Christy, J. D., Starr, Jamie, Jason, Christina, and Alan; a sister, Cathy Deardurff; brothers, Harold (Kathie) Hurt and Kenny (Linda) Myers. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive.
