Obituary from Holman Funeral Home and Cremations – Ozark, AL


 


Mr.  Homer E. "Robby" Robertson passed on at 7:25 A.M., December 6, 2016, at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, FL, with his daughters Robin and Nancy, and granddaughter, Lindsay by his side. He was 94 years old.


Funeral services will be 10:00 A. M. Saturday, December 10, 2016, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home and Cremations in Ozark with Reverend Al Sonanstine officiating.  Interment will follow in Camp Ground Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Friday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.


 "Robby" was born on January 19, 1922 in Gentry County, MO to the late Homer Robertson and Jennie Maye Turner Robertson. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942, and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1962. His duty stations included Pensacola, FL, MD, RI, MA, the Philippines, Guam, Hawaii, China, Japan, and Germany. After retiring from the Navy, he worked with Hamilton Propeller Company in CT.   He went to Vietnam to work on the experimental Buffalo aircraft with the Army. He was also employed at Fort Rucker, AL where he worked on the Apache Helicopter. Before moving to Apopka, FL to live, he resided on Dean Church Road in Ozark for 49 years. He was a member of Camp Ground Baptist Church since 1967.  In addition to his parents, "Robby" was preceded by his wife, Evalyn Robertson; his son, Larry Robertson, and a granddaughter. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Sickler of Southampton, MA, Robin Robertson of Apopka, FL, and Nancy Robertson of Apopka, FL; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  He is also survived by one step-daughter and son-in-law, Debbie Beach and Curt Morehouse of Bushnell, FL, and two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Beth Beach of Morristown, TN, and Rick Beach and Gail Holiday of Dallas, GA.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the Dale County Rescue Mission, 196 North Union Avenue, Ozark, AL  36360.
